The Opportunity

Sabre is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Applications Specialist (Electrical Switchgear Estimator) to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for switchgear, E-House, and other electrical solutions. Working closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and business development teams, you will play a key role in evaluating project opportunities, developing pricing strategies, and ensuring successful project execution from the proposal stage through project award.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, extensive estimating experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and customer support.

What You'll Do

As an Applications Specialist (Electrical Switchgear Estimator), you will:

- Prepare detailed material, labour, equipment, and overall project cost estimates for switchgear, E-House, and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and customer requirements to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and sales teams to develop competitive bid strategies.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure accurate project costing.
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities during the estimating process.
- Support customer inquiries by providing technical and commercial solutions aligned with project requirements.
- Maintain and update historical cost data, estimating tools, and benchmarks to improve pricing accuracy and consistency.
- Participate in bid reviews, project handovers, and lessons-learned discussions to support continuous improvement.
- Ensure estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, standards,



and customer specifications.

What You'll Bring

- 7+ years of estimating experience in electrical projects, with a strong focus on switchgear, power distribution systems, or industrial electrical construction.
- Journeyperson Electrician certification, Electrical Engineering Technology diploma, or a related technical background is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and equipment layouts.
- Experience estimating switchgear, E-Houses, MCCs, control systems, or related electrical equipment is strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of electrical construction practices, materials, and installation methodologies.
- In-depth understanding of applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and technical requirements.
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications is considered an asset.
