Summary

CBO Earthworks is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Hydro-Vac Operator to join our growing team. As we continue to expand our service capabilities, we are looking for an operator who can safely and professionally perform a variety of Hydro-Vac services across industrial, municipal, commercial, and construction projects.

This role may include, but is not limited to, Hydro-Vac excavation, utility exposure, debris and fluid removal, site cleanup, line flushing, pressure washing support, water hauling, and material handling. The successful candidate will bring a strong commitment to safety, reliability, equipment care, and teamwork while representing CBO Earthworks in a qualified manner on every job.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely drive and operate Hydro-Vac equipment in a variety of field environments.
- Perform Hydro-Vac excavation and vacuum services in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and site-specific rules.
- Participate in ground disturbance activities, utility locating support, and safe exposure of underground infrastructure.
- Complete daily pre-trip, post-trip, and equipment inspections, along with maintain driver e-logs and required documentation as per NSC regulations.
- Maintain accurate records related to work performed, inspections, and compliance requirements.
- Load, transport, and unload materials, fluids, and debris as required by the job.
- Ensure the vac unit, tooling, hoses, and associated equipment are kept clean, maintained, and in safe working condition.
- Work closely with supervisors, foremen, dispatch, and site personnel to complete work safely and efficiently.
- Participate in safety meetings, job hazard assessments, near miss reporting, and other company safety initiatives.
- Professionally represent CBO Earthworks with clients, contractors, and the public.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

- Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement.




- Previous vac truck or Hydro-Vac experience is preferred.
- Ability to operate a 15 speed manual transmission
- Training may be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience working around underground utilities, excavation, and construction or industrial sites is considered an asset.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively in changing site conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication, situational awareness, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time productively.

Safety Tickets and Assets

The following certifications are considered strong assets:

- CSTS
- Standard First Aid / CPR
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- TDG
- Other industry-recognized safety training relevant to site work

- Strong commitment to safe work practices and compliance.
- Mechanical awareness and ability to identify basic equipment issues.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and professional unit.
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.
- Professional attitude with a customer-service mindset.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekdays, weekends, or travel as required by operations.

Job Details

- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday with some work on Saturdays
- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage with overtime opportunities
