We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef and cook to join our vibrant culinary team! Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Source fresh ingredients daily, ensuring quality and freshness for all menu items
- Collaborate with team members to develop new sushi creations and seasonal specials
- Educate junior staff or apprentices on proper sushi preparation techniques and presentation standards
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages
- Ensure consistent portion control, plating, and presentation for every dish served
Skills
- Proven experience working as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is a plus, demonstrating patience and teaching ability
- Ability to teach others about cooking methods, ingredient selection, and food safety practices
- Excellent classroom experience or background in early childhood education enhances communication skills with diverse team members
- Passion for cooking combined with creativity to develop innovative sushi dishes
- Solid organizational skills to manage multiple orders efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
