We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate RECE staff, for a fixed term contract October 5, 2025 through to December 24th, 2026.

The position is a 5 hour split shift September - December, and 7 hour full day shifts on PA Day. Candidates must be available to work a split shift.

Registered Early Childhood Educators collaborates closely with all other members of the organization under the direct supervision of the Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor. They must develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate program plans that are in compliance with the Centre’s Program Statement, as well as the Child Care Early Years act, using Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), and How Does Learning Happen? Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and Toronto Public Health (TPH) Guidelines.

Registered Early Childhood Educators are expected to develop and maintain professional relationships with families.

Qualifications:

- Registered with and maintains in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators at all times. Proof of membership must be provided annually.
- Adherence to the legislative regulations and duties set out for an Early Childhood Educator under the current Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act
- Adherence to the Professional Responsibilities and Code of Conduct set out by the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators, including but not limited to the Conflict of Interest Policy and the Confidentiality Policy
- Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR-C training
- Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience working with kindergarten children

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

- Responsible for reviewing and understanding childrens Individual Medical Plans, Allergy/Food Restrictions lists, and administering Epipens and medications (in accordance with medication administration documentation and guidelines)
- Is aware of, clearly understands, and abides by Centre policies, procedures, and philosophy statement
- Completes program planning per AQI Requirements
- Ensures completion of observations and documentation per AQI Requirements
- Is ready for work in the classroom by the start of scheduled shift. Having your personal belongings put away and are in the room/playground ready to work. This includes dressing and/or preparing for the scheduled activity and the weather
- Research, plans, and books fieldtrips and special guests within provided budget




- Plan and prepare snacks/food experiences with an awareness of healthy choices & licensing requirements when needed (i.e. allergy/food restrictions)
- Has a positive attitude toward children, parents/guardians, and coworkers
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, assume responsibility for own actions and behaviour at work. (See employee handbook regarding social media and personal appearance)
- Is punctual and reliable. For personal emergencies staff must notify the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor of any absences as early as possible.
- Responsible for the health, safety, and well being of the children for which they are providing care for. Must maintain supervision of children at all times
- Greets and communicates with parents/guardians at drop off and pick up each day. Providing parents/guardians with an update on their child’s progress
- Ensures that the portable attendance is with them for all transitions. Transitions should be completed in smaller groups wherever possible.
- Know where each child is in your care at all times by doing regular attendance verification checks during indoor, outdoor, and at all transition times and field trips.
- Participates in implementing developmentally appropriate Curriculum based on the children’s interests.
- · Actively participate in meeting (contributing to discussions, share learning experiences, etc.) and events are required i.e. staff meetings, AGM, fundraising, Fun Fair, or other events.
- Has understanding and is able to implement the four foundations of How Does Learning Happen through observations, reflections, documentation, and curriculum planning.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement and ensures they are in compliance at all times

- Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques. This is including but not limited to: modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
- Works cooperatively as a member of the childcare team, facilitating a team environment through professional behaviour, work contributions and the sharing of expertise and knowledge. Act as a role model of appropriate behaviour
- Maintain regular, effective, and open communication with team members, Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, in a positive and professional manner
- Administers first aid as required, completes accident/incident reports, records accidents/incidents in the daily log and playground log (where required), provides reports to the Supervisor/ Assistant Supervisor to review and sign
