Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and eager Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with heavy trucks and machinery. You will develop essential mechanical skills, learn maintenance procedures, and gain exposure to a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment used in the oilfield sector.
Duties
- Assist senior mechanics with repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Perform routine inspections on trucks, trailers, and machinery to identify issues early
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to support repair tasks under supervision
- Learn to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
- Support the operation of heavy equipment including pickers and other machinery during maintenance or testing
- Help with the assembly,
disassembly, and installation of mechanical components
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in mechanics is a plus
- Solid interest in heavy-duty vehicle repair and maintenance
- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn on the job
- Knowledge of schematics, electrical systems, or industrial equipment is beneficial but not required
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus
