Overview
Paese Ristorante is seeking a professional, attentive, assistant manager-professional server to provide exceptional dining experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of upscale food and beverage service, fine wines, excellent communication skills, and a passion for hospitality.
The role requires grace under pressure, attention to detail and a passion for excellence in guest service.
Responsibilities:
- Greet guest in a professional and friendly manner, providing exceptional customer service
- Offer recommendations of current menu offerings and wine or beverage pairings, based on guests' preferences and dietary requirements
- Ensure timely flow of table service, collaborating with kitchen to provide good communication and seamless service
- Anticipate guest needs and monitor guest satisfaction with overall experience and exceed expectations
- Address customer concerns with patience and professionalism, take appropriate, escalate to management if necessary
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the wine list, including the regions, varietals, and vintages available
- Assist with wine inventory management and storage, including ordering, receiving, and organizing to maintain quality and freshness
- Prepare & maintain organized stations and bar, dining room in accordance with restaurant standards
- Assist the general manager with the day-to-day service and management, receipts and reports
- Assist with promotional and marketing activities
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends in the wine industry
- Assist with ongoing training, motivation and managing staff
- Ensure staff adhere to all food safety, sanitation and health regulations
- Maintain grooming, hygiene and uniform standards
Requirements:
- Italian restaurant experience required in fine dining or luxury hospitality setting - minimum of 2 years
- Strong knowledge of wines varietals, including regions and vintages
- Management experience
- Previous experience as a sommelier or in a similar role
- Knowledge of Italian food, wine, spirits & pairing principles
- Strong communication, leadership skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests and staff
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficient in restaurant operations and food service procedures
- Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in POS systems, transactional processing and basic math skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced workplace
- Flexibility to work day or evenings, weekends, and holidays
- SmartServe certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Wine training or certification (ie WSET)
- Knowledge of wines, cocktails, and food pairing
- Certification in food safety or hospitality service
- Formal training in hospitality or food service
- Bartending experience
- Multilingual abilities are a plus
