Black Tie Electric is looking for an experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. We will also consider a capable third- or fourth-year apprentice with solid commercial or industrial experience.
We are a small, established electrical company offering steady work, a Monday-to-Friday schedule, low employee turnover, and a supportive team environment. We value skilled tradespeople who are dependable, communicate well, work safely, and take genuine pride in doing the job properly.
Our work includes commercial installations and service, light industrial projects, controls, conveyors, automation, troubleshooting, renovations, and tenant improvements. Projects are varied, and the successful candidate should be comfortable moving between installation, service, and problem-solving work.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Performing commercial and light industrial electrical installations, service, maintenance, and repairs
- Troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment
- Working with controls, conveyors, automation, and motor-control systems
- Completing renovations, tenant improvements, and commercial service work
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Completing assigned work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Communicating professionally with supervisors, customers, and other trades
- Working independently when required and contributing as part of the team
- Completing required job and safety documentation accurately and on time
- Representing Black Tie Electric professionally on active job sites
What We’re Looking For
- Alberta Journeyman Electrician certification; or
- Registered third- or fourth-year Electrical Apprentice with strong relevant experience
- Demonstrated commercial and/or industrial electrical experience
- Ability to work safely and productively with the level of supervision appropriate to your experience
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
- Ability to read, understand, and follow drawings, labels, written instructions, safety documentation, and work orders
Strong Assets
- Commercial service and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with controls, conveyors, automation, or motor controls
- Experience with renovations and tenant improvements
- Current First Aid, Fall Protection, CSTS, or MEWP certification
Current safety certifications are considered an asset but are not required for every candidate. Black Tie Electric pays for required safety training, certifications, and renewals, including First Aid and Fall Protection.
Work Location
Calgary and the surrounding area. This is an in-person position.
