Garden City Groundskeeping Services Ltd. is looking for reliable, experienced, and safety-focused Snow Clearing Drivers to join our winter operations team. This is a hands-on seasonal role for someone who takes pride in doing the job right, works well under pressure, and is ready to respond when winter weather hits.
As a Snow Clearing Driver, you’ll play an important role in keeping our commercial properties safe and accessible throughout the winter season. You’ll operate company trucks and snow-clearing equipment, clear and salt designated sites, follow established procedures, and work closely with Dispatch and the Operations team to deliver quality results.

Role Overview:
The Snow Clearing Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently clearing and salting assigned Garden City properties during snow events.
This role requires someone who can follow routes and site requirements, operate equipment properly, communicate with Dispatch and team members, and ensure each property is serviced to company standards.

You stay calm and focused during snow events, follow procedures, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your assigned route and sites. You understand the importance of proper preparation, equipment operation, timing, and quality when providing winter services.
Key Responsibilities:
Snow Clearing & Salting
- Safely operate Ford trucks ranging from F350–F550 and required snow-clearing equipment.
- Clear and salt assigned properties according to company standards and Dispatch instructions.
- Follow snow-clearing SOPs and assigned routes.
- Know site requirements and designated snow-piling areas.
- Operate and adjust salters for appropriate salt application.
- Ensure sites are properly cleared and salted before leaving.
- Meet project timelines as directed by Dispatch.
Safety & Equipment
- Complete required pre-operation checks before each snow event.
- Follow PPE requirements and all company health and safety procedures.
- Ensure trucks, salters, and equipment are fueled, clean, maintained, and ready for each event.
- Understand vehicle weight capacity and ensure vehicles are not overloaded.
- Report equipment issues, hazards, incidents, or concerns promptly.
Communication & Teamwork
- Maintain regular communication with Dispatch and team members.
- Ask questions and clarify instructions when needed.
- Communicate delays, site concerns, or equipment issues promptly.
- Work cooperatively with the winter operations team.
What Success Looks Like (Performance Expectations)
Safety: Vehicles and equipment are operated safely and all required procedures are followed.
Quality: Sites are properly cleared, salted, and left safe and clean.
Efficiency: Routes are planned effectively and sites are completed within expected timelines.
Communication: Dispatch and team members are kept informed throughout snow events.
Reliability: Available when required, responds promptly, and arrives prepared for each event.
Equipment Readiness: Trucks, salters, and equipment are fueled, clean, maintained, and ready to operate.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- 3+ years of snow-clearing experience preferred.
- Experience operating pickup trucks and snow-clearing equipment.
- Experience operating salters is an asset.
- Knowledge of proper snow-clearing, snow-piling, and de-icing practices.
- Valid G driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter weather and challenging conditions.
- Coachable and willing to learn.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable and available for on-call work during snow events.
Working Conditions & Seasonal Expectations:
- 24/7 on-call shift work from November 15 to April 15.
- Outdoor work in varying and challenging winter weather conditions.
- Physical role requiring lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Schedule may vary based on weather conditions and operational needs.
