Location: 100% Remote (Ontario, Canada)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 1 Year
Rate: $100–119/hour
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 am – 5 pm; possible after-hours and weekend requirements (overtime)

As a Senior Welding Engineer, you will develop design and process specifications, create and mature design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings and design documentation for welded products.

As team leader, you will perform and delegate work, provide technical oversight, and oversee project scheduling and resource planning. You will interface with Business Project Managers, Mechanical Design Engineers, Sourcing, Equipment Manufacturers, and Engineering Leadership.

Responsibilities

- Develop designs and processes for welded components supporting existing product improvements and new products.
- Work within a matrixed engineering team to deliver high-quality work in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform metallurgical analysis of weldments, including austenitic stainless steels.
- Apply knowledge of GTAW and Resistance Welding.
- Work with ASME BPVC Section III Division 1 Section IX, AWS A2.4, and AWS A3.0.
- Assist with weld joint design and component producibility while assessing causality and risk.
- Provide technical support for fabricator assessment and sourcing interfaces.




- Troubleshoot welding issues and support implementation of solutions.
- Prepare invention disclosures.
- Create schedules and work estimates for welding projects.
- Lead the welding team by assigning resources, communicating updates, escalating issues, and supporting existing plant services, fuel and component manufacture, and new plant design.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
- 8 years of experience working in an engineering environment.

Desired Characteristics

- Experience analyzing and solving moderately complex design problems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical processes.
- Robust oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing practices.
- Familiarity with welding metallurgy of carbon steels, low alloy steels, nickel alloys, zirconium, and aluminum alloys.
- Familiarity with GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and LBW.
- Knowledge of ASME BPV Code Section III Division V, Section VIII Div 1, AWS D1.1, and AWS D1.6.
- Experience in the BWR or PWR industry preferred.

Pay: $100.00-$119.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
