About the Position

HEIMPEL AUTOMOTIVE is looking for an experienced and motivated Automotive Parts Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of automotive parts and applications and will be responsible for assisting retail customers, automotive repair shops, technicians, and commercial accounts in identifying and sourcing the correct parts.

This position requires someone who is organized, dependable, customer-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and source automotive parts using vehicle year, make, model, engine, VIN, part number, and application information.
- Assist customers and professional automotive technicians with parts selection and product information.
- Use electronic automotive parts catalogues and supplier systems to research and locate parts.
- Provide accurate pricing, availability, and estimated delivery information.
- Prepare customer orders, quotes, invoices, and sales orders.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Process retail and commercial orders accurately.
- Coordinate with suppliers and warehouses to locate parts that are not available in-store.
- Receive and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect parts for damage or incorrect shipments.
- Stock, label, organize, and maintain parts throughout the store and warehouse.
- Maintain accurate inventory and participate in cycle counts and physical inventory.
- Process customer returns, warranty claims, and core returns according to company procedures.
- Assist with special orders and follow up with customers when parts arrive.
- Coordinate parts transfers between locations when required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, repair shops, suppliers, and sales representatives.
- Assist delivery drivers with order preparation and loading when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work setting.




- Follow all company policies and workplace safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Experience

Minimum requirements:

- 2+ years of experience in automotive parts, automotive service, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts and vehicle applications.
- Experience using automotive parts catalogues and lookup systems.
- Ability to accurately identify parts using vehicle information and VIN.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems, including engine, cooling, electrical, braking, suspension, steering, and drivetrain components.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered an asset:

- 3–5 years of automotive parts counter experience.
- Experience working with commercial automotive repair shops.
- Experience with automotive parts management or POS systems.
- Knowledge of aftermarket automotive parts and major parts brands.
- Previous experience handling warranty and core returns.
- Experience with inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Valid Class G driver's licence.
- Previous experience in a busy auto parts store.

Compensation

Hourly Wage: $[25.00.00–30.00] per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Experienced candidates with strong automotive parts knowledge, commercial-account experience, and proven customer service skills may be considered for a higher rate.

Working Hours

The position is full-time, permanent, with approximately [40–44] hours per week.

Typical schedule:

Monday – Friday: [8:00 AM – 5:00 PM]
Saturday: CLOSED
Sunday: Closed

The successful candidate must be available to work occasional overtime when required.

Physical Requirements

This position involves both customer-service and warehouse duties. The successful candidate must be able to:

- Lift and move automotive parts and boxes up to approximately [50] lbs.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, and climb stairs or ladders as required.
- Safely move and organize inventory.
- Work in a warehouse/store environment where temperatures may vary.
