Role Description:
The Bookkeeper position is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, based in Port Moody, British Columbia, and reports to the RidgeWood CPA Inc. Head of Bookkeeping and Senior Bookkeeper. You shall work primarily remotely. However, the position may be required to travel to, and perform duties at other locations as may be determined from time to time.
Responsibilities:
- Data entry and financial record keeping: accurately enter financial transactions such as invoices, receipts, bills and payments into the accounting software.
- Accounts payable and receivable: manage and track incoming and outgoing invoices, ensure timely payment and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Expense tracking: monitor and record expenses related to projects, materials and equipment.
- Payroll processing: complete processing payroll, calculating hours worked, and ensuring employees and subcontractors are paid accurately and on time.
- Bank reconciliations: regularly reconcile bank statements with financial records to ensure accuracy.
- Financial reports: prepare basic financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for review.
- Tax preparation support:
organize and maintain financial records to assist with tax filing and compliance requirements.
- Project cost tracking: monitor and report on the costs of ongoing projects, including materials, labor and overhead expenses.
- Invoice generation: create and send invoices to clients, track payments received and manage outstanding balances.
- Filing and documentation: maintain an organized filing system for financial documents, contracts, receipts and invoices.
- Communication: liaise with suppliers, clients and subcontractors and address any billing or payment issues. Communicate with clients on a regular basis by following company procedures and tone.
- Inventory tracking: track inventory levels or materials and supplies, ensuring accurate cost allocation.
- Time tracking and time reporting: time tracking and time reporting is required for this role by following the company processes.
- Software utilization: use accounting software and other software provided to manage financial records, client organization and tasks.
- Sales tax filings and payroll tax remittances: these filings will need to be completed before the due date and the client will need to be notified of payment.
- Completion of monthly bookkeeping: all clients bookkeeping will be completed on a monthly basis in a timely manner and worked on a regular basis.
- Perform all other duties as required and assigned by the Director or Head of Bookkeeping.
Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on bookkeeping experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online & MS Office.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, business, or finance.
- Solid understanding of financial principles and practices
- Skilled in creating and recording accurate journal entries.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and effectively in a remote environment remotely.
- Prior experience in public accounting industry is an advantage.

Ideal Start Date: June 1, 2026
Compensation: Starting at $25.00 per hour, with potential adjustments based on experience.
