We are a bakery looking for a reliable, hardworking and detail-oriented Bakery Cleaning & Production Assistant to join our team.
This is primarily a cleaning and sanitation position. The majority of your time will be spent cleaning and maintaining the bakery and production equipment. When cleaning duties are completed, you will also assist the bakery team with packaging, receiving stock and basic baking/production tasks.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Sanitation: Main Responsibility
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize the bakery production areas
- Clean floors, walls, tables, counters and other surfaces
- Wash and sanitize baking equipment, trays, utensils and tools
- Wash dishes and maintain clean work areas throughout the shift
- Clean equipment and production areas at the end of production
- Follow daily cleaning and sanitation checklists
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Keep the bakery clean, organized and ready for production
General Bakery Support: When cleaning duties are completed, assist the team with:
- Packaging and labeling bakery products
- Preparing boxes and packaging materials
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Moving and organizing ingredients and supplies
- Helping bakers with basic preparation and baking tasks
- Other general tasks to help the bakery team as needed

- Able to work independently and follow cleaning schedules
- Able to stand, bend, reach and move around for most of the shift
- Able to lift and move boxes and supplies of up to 20kg
- Previous cleaning, commercial kitchen, bakery or food production experience is an asset
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
The Ideal Candidate
The most important thing is that you don't mind cleaning and take pride in doing it well. Feels comfortable with heavy work.
We are looking for someone who notices when something needs to be cleaned, works efficiently and keeps the bakery looking and operating at a high standard.
You do not need to be an experienced baker. Baking and production support are secondary parts of this position and training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on job. You should be comfortable with:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Bending, reaching and lifting
- Frequent cleaning and washing
- Moving boxes, ingredients and supplies
- Working around bakery equipment and in a production environment
