Responsibilities:

- Scheduling and approving of daily timesheets and vacations of the QC technicians and QA technicians.
- Working closely with the QC technicians, QA technicians, QA assistants and QA coordinator along with providing back-up coverage as needed.
- Tracking the weekly updates on the progress and performance of the respective team and present it during the QA touch-base.
- Sharing the findings of the daily walk-around with the respective departments and following-up on corrective actions and open items.
- Support on the in office verification of QA/production/shipping/maintenance-related monitoring including but not limited to quality checks, batch verification, label reconciliation, etc.
- Daily verification and signing off checklists completed by QC and QA technicians along with correcting any discrepancies noted during verification.
- Updating and working with the QA manager and HR to take disciplinary actions as needed.
- Review and update the HACCP/ MPIP and SQF programs to reflect the current process including recent or upcoming changes.
- Laise with CFIA to provide them with the requested information in a timely manner.
- Perform the annual reassessment of the HACCP program and annual internal audit of the SQF system along with follow-ups/updates/changes as needed.
- Perform the annual risk assessments as per the SQF requirements.




- Organize the laboratory and other testing schedules as per the written program.
- Support in setting-up laboratory to be able to conduct microbiological and organoleptic tests on the product.
- Support in performing experimental procedures in animal husbandry research/ animal welfare.
- Support in conducting environmental monitoring and compliance activities like calibration to ensure food safety.
- Assisting in analysis of data and preparation of reports as per the findings of the investigation with respect to non-conformances/deviations.
- Support in the implementation of the red-hold tag procedure.
- Regular onsite audits and related follow-ups with the respective teams to close any non conformances.
- Initiating investigation and follow-ups around customer complaints with sending response in a timely manner.
- Support in the record verification, validation, and document control program.
- Utilize the company’s ERP system to conduct traceability exercise as needed.
- Support in monitoring the grading of speciality poultry.
- Staying up to date with the CFIA regulatory requirements including MPIP, export, and support in the implementation of updates/changes as needed.
- Support in maintaining supplier and contractor relationships with completion of applications and approval packages.
- Leading and participating in the daily team huddles and act as a QA representative in operation huddles regarding the use of company’s production digital system.
- Support in updating standards, monitoring logs, specification sheets and training materials on Redzone.
- Work closely with the QA manager in the implementation of any future projects as needed.




- Support the QA manager during customer and third-party audits as needed.
- GMP training as needed for new employee orientation.
- New and/ or refresher trainings of all employees and contractors as per the HACCP/SQF requirement.
- Regular and timely observation on the effectiveness of training.

Qualification:

- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of quality assurance or food-safety experience in food manufacturing.
- Experience in poultry or meat processing is preferred.
- Previous experience leading or supporting a QA/QC team is an asset.
- Good knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, food safety, and CFIA requirements.
- Experience with inspections, audits, corrective actions, and customer complaint investigations.
- Able to review records, identify issues, and follow up until corrective actions are completed.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to train employees and provide clear direction to the team.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy production environment.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and Redzone.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Available to work flexible hours when required for audits, investigations, or production issues.
- HACCP Certification required.
