In this energetic position, you will support the optometry team by managing patient interactions, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk. Your proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatrics, while utilizing your strong organizational skills and medical knowledge to enhance patient care and clinic efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently check them in using electronic medical records systems such as Accuro.
- Assist with patient preparations for eye exams, including collecting medical histories and updating records.
- Support the optometrist during examinations by preparing instruments and handling necessary documentation.
- Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and processing payments through retail sales channels.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, medical terminology, and clinical notes in compliance with privacy standards.
- Facilitate optical sales by educating patients on eyewear options and assisting with frame selections.
- Support pediatric patients by creating a friendly environment and helping with age-specific needs during exams.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or optical practice is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Epic or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to eye care and general health.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations.
- Ability to handle front desk responsibilities efficiently, including scheduling and billing processes.
- Knowledge of optical products, retail sales techniques, and sales strategies is a plus.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is advantageous.
