Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and diligent Tree Nursery Labourer to join our dynamic horticultural team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the cultivation, maintenance, and care of young trees and plants within our nursery. Your enthusiasm for gardening and plant care will help ensure the healthy growth of our stock, contributing to beautification projects, reforestation efforts, and landscape development. This position offers an engaging environment where physical activity and outdoor work are central to daily tasks.

Responsibilities

- Assist with planting, transplanting, and potting young trees and shrubs using appropriate hand tools and techniques
- Maintain nursery beds by watering, irrigating, fertilizing, and pruning plants to promote optimal growth
- Operate basic mechanical equipment such as wheelbarrows, watering systems, and small machinery with proper safety procedures
- Conduct regular inspections of plants for pests, diseases, or health issues and report findings promptly
- Perform heavy lifting of trees, soil bags, mulch, and other materials to support nursery operations
- Keep detailed records of planting schedules, growth progress, and inventory levels using basic math skills




- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing debris, weeds, and excess materials to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

- Prior experience or strong interest in horticulture or gardening is preferred but not required
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the workday
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and plant care practices is advantageous
- Familiarity with hand tools such as shovels, pruners, trowels, and watering equipment
- Mechanical knowledge or experience operating small machinery is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with positive organizational skills for record keeping
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in outdoor conditions

Pay: From $17.95 per hour
