Summary: Reporting to theJourneyman Pipefitter, the Pipefitter Apprentice participates in the fabrication, layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping structures used in conveying chemicals, steam, and hot liquids at industrial and commercial properties applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The Pipefitter Apprentice will produce production parts that meet customer specifications, as well as fabricate metal components using various piping equipment. Additionally, this position is responsible to promote a high level of customer satisfaction, in accordance with company beliefs, policies, procedures, objectives and applicable legislation.

This position is safety sensitive and will require drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Pipefitter Apprentice performs some or all of the following duties:

· Attending on-site/shop tailgate & safety meetings.

· Participating in safety programs (filling out all required safety documentation) Keep detailed and accurate documentation of safety information (FLHA’s & JHA’s SOC cards)

· Follow direction and instruction of Journeyman Pipefitter, ask for directions or instructions when you are unsure of a task or don’t know the next step.

· Study blueprint and construction plans for pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.

· Operate power tools, cutting torches, and pipe benders to cut and hammer pipes to specification.

· Assemble and secure pipes/tubes, and fittings by means of bolt up, treading and gluing.

· Cut & thread pipe to specifications.

· Remove and replace worn components.

· Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures.

· Use hand or power tools to drill holes in structures such as wall, platforms to allow for pipe passage.

· Operate various types or water pumps to discard water from flooded facility, manholes and low laying areas (low spots, ruts, ditches)

· Conduct repairs,



modifications and retrofits as directed.

· Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques

· Ensures accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.

· Utilize pressure gauges and hydrostatic testing to inspect and test installed pipe systems.

· Be familiar with how to handle and use torque wrenches (Ask for assistance when needed)

· Keep detailed and accurate documentation of completed work.

· Carry out task safely, ensuring a protected work environment that exceeds an acceptable Health and Safety Standard.

· Participate in technical Inspections.

· Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

· Actively enrolled in Provincial Pipefitting Program.

· Physically strong, agile and dexterous.

· Ability to work in a standing position for extended hours, comfortable with working on elevated surfaces.

· Resilient to working in adverse climatic conditions.

· Available to work shifts and extended hours, can travel to remote areas for extended periods.

Working Conditions

· Shop/Field environment, traveling to multiple site locations, potentially requiring work on evenings and weekends. Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols.

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $22.00-$37.00 per hour
