We are seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our outside plant (OSP) telecommunications team as part of a Fiber Optic Plow Crew. You will operate heavy equipment (vibratory plows, direction drills, backhoes, excavators) and assist with underground cable installation, trenching, and site restoration.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate vibratory plows, trenchers, backhoes, and excavators to install fiber optic cable underground.
- Crew Support: Pot holes/utility verification, hand digging near sensitive utilities, loading/unloading materials, and pulling fiber cable.
- Safety & Compliance: Call and verify 1st call utility locates prior to digging; strictly follow CSA guidelines and company safety standards.
- Restoration: Backfill trenches, compact soil, clean up job sites, and restore turf/surfaces to original condition post-installation.
- Maintenance: Perform daily inspection and routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and heavy equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience:
2+ years of experience in underground utility construction or fiber optic cable installation.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver’s License required; Class 1A CDL preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift up to 75 lbs, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Safety First: Working knowledge of underground utility locate codes and safe excavation protocols.
- Travel: Willingness to travel regionally for job sites as needed.
