· a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
· a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
· a minimum of two years of progressively senior financial management experience, including staff supervision
· highly developed business acumen and analytical skills to evaluate financial systems and formulate long-range fiscal and strategic plans
· personal qualities of integrity, credibility and dedication to the mission, values and beliefs of the organization
· a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
What you will do: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Financial Controller provides leadership for the finance department, ensuring financial operations are aligned with Job Skills’ established goals, objectives and policies, while acting as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO and senior management team and providing insights and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Accounting
· Oversees the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
· Ensures timely completion of financial close processes
· Reviews account reconciliations and investigates discrepancies
· Maintains the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts and accounting records
· Prepares financial reports and analysis for senior leadership and the Board of Directors
· Monitors restricted funding and ensures funds are used according to contribution agreements
· Prepares funder financial reports
· Supports grant applications and funder audits
· Ensures compliance with charitable/non-profit financial requirements
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Leads the annual budgeting process
· Monitors budget performance and provides variance analysis
· Supports leaders with financial planning and decision-making
· Develops and maintains financial forecasts and projections
Internal Controls & Compliance
· Maintains and revises (as necessary) financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
· Ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislation, and funding requirements
· Identifies financial risks and recommends mitigation strategies
· Supports internal and external audits
Cash Flow & Financial Management
· Monitors cash flow, revenues, and expenditures
· Oversees banking activities and financial transactions
· Ensures effective management of accounts payable and accounts receivable
· Ensures timely financial remittances and filings
Payroll & Benefits Oversight
· Ensures payroll processes are accurate and compliant
· Reviews payroll-related financial reporting
· Supports reconciliation of payroll, benefits, and pension accounts
Leadership & Team Management
· Supervises and supports finance department staff
· Establishes priorities and improves financial processes
Strategic Support
· Provides financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making
· Identifies opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements
