ROLE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Fabrication Supervisor, under the direction of the Modular Supervisor is responsible for leading the modular team to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to high standards of quality and precision. This role plays a critical part in delivering high quality, custom modular components by overseeing daily production activities, optimizing workflows, and ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and safety requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and Leadership
- Supervise day to day operations of all workstations within the modular facility.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
- Responsible for all aspects of performance management, from setting clear expectations to evaluating performance, and initiating corrective actions when required.
- Coordinate and prioritize production schedules in alignment with project delivery timelines.
- Coordinates activities across multiple production stations and trade groups to ensure seamless workflow, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure on time product delivery.
- Understand and ensure team understanding of all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and organizational policies and procedures.
- Development of Safe Work Procedures, SOPs, and other operating documents, to ensure consistent products, and transfer of knowledge.
Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of Kalesnikoff employees and subcontracted trades to ensure high performance and quality outcomes.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and solutions-focused team culture.
Customer Focus
- Ensure production of quality products in alignment with Kalesnikoff’s world-class standards.
- Support Modular Sales and Project Management Team in terms of technical questions.
- Work closely with the Purchasing Team to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials onsite.
Solution Focus
- Troubleshoot production issues, collaborating with multiple stakeholders as needed.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance workflow, efficiency, and product quality.
- Interpret shop drawings, 3D models (BIM/CAD), and fabrication files to guide modular builds.
Quality Control & Results
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality assurance protocols, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ensure the efficient use of labour,
machines and materials used by modular staff.
- Maintain accurate records of materials usage, production outputs, and performance metrics.
- Maintain industry leading quality across all product lines. Ensure product quality is aligned and consistent across all production shifts.
- Ensure adherence to and meet all applicable local codes and project-specific certification requirements to the project being built.
- Ensure all third-party components and materials are installed as per supplier’s recommendations/instructions.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Post-secondary education in construction, manufacturing carpentry or a related field
- Red Seal Carpentry is preferred
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role in manufacturing, preferably industry related
- Minimum 5 years construction experience in carpentry or millwork
- Experience working with engineered wood products would be an asset
- Proven history in safety excellence
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to read fabrication plans and blueprints.
- Knowledge of wood manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, communication and delegation skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
- Previous scheduling and payroll experience is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with others with sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism in all situations.
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Location: 215 Orchard Ave, Castlegar, BC
- Schedule: Monday - Friday
- Occasional exposure to dust and fumes
- Exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, and overlapping work-zones
- Occasional safety lockouts and access to equipment
- Requires frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 75 or more lbs
- Constant finger dexterity and ability to hear, and talk, on/off radio in an industrial setting
- Occasional climbing and carrying

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Salary:
$87,200 - $109,000 (depending on experience)
