Maibec CanExel is located in East River, Nova Scotia (just outside of Hubbards). The location is 1 minute off Exit 7 from Highway #103, making it an easy commute of approximately 30 minutes from Bayers Lake or Bridgewater.
Maibec CanExel is seeking a Red Seal Welder or a 3rd or 4th year apprentice Welder to join a dynamic team in East River, Nova Scotia.
Welders are part of the Maintenance team who perform predictive and preventative maintenance functions under minimal supervision.
The base rate of pay for a Red Seal certified Welder is $40.01/hour.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform fitting, fabrication, and welding repairs on plant equipment and components
- Execute welding using Stick, MIG, and TIG processes
- Perform cutting, grinding, and other metal preparation activities
- Support preventative maintenance activities and equipment repairs
- Maintain shop equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and organized manner
- Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Actively participate in EHS programs and maintain safe work practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Solid understanding of metallurgical properties related to welding applications
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations
- Willingness to participate in training and trade upgrading opportunities

EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
