Structural Bridge Specialist

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 annually

Algonquin Bridge Limited is looking for a Structural Bridge Specialist to join our Engineering team in Thorndale, Ontario. This full-time role is ideal for a structural engineering professional who wants to take on increasingly complex steel bridge and infrastructure projects while continuing to develop their technical expertise.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll work closely with engineers, project managers, drafters, fabricators, clients, and site teams to support projects from design through fabrication and delivery.

What You'll Do

- Design and engineer steel bridge and infrastructure projects in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
- Perform structural analysis, load calculations, stress assessments, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Support projects through feasibility, concept and detailed design, fabrication, delivery, and construction.
- Prepare and review engineering designs, calculations, technical drawings, specifications, reports, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, drafters, fabricators, site personnel, clients, and regulatory bodies throughout project delivery.
- Participate in QA/QC and peer reviews to ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, technologists, and drafters.
- Support clients by responding to technical questions, design changes, project updates, and approval requirements.
- Contribute to proposals, technical presentations, client meetings,



and business development activities.
- Participate in research and development of new bridge solutions, materials, connections, assembly methods, and engineering processes.

What You'll Bring

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Two to five years of structural engineering experience, preferably involving bridge design, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of steel design principles, structural analysis, and construction methodologies.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, IDEA StatiCa, Midas Civil, or similar.
- Knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards, including CSA and CISC requirements.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, AISC, Eurocode, or other international standards is considered an asset.
- Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
