About the Role

Shift Energy Group is looking for an experienced Red Seal Electrician to join our Field Crew team in Halifax, NS.

As a Crew Electrician, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation of solar PV systems, electrical interconnections, and equipment commissioning across residential and commercial projects. This role is well suited to an experienced electrician who takes pride in quality workmanship, works well in a fast-paced field workplace, and can support apprentices and installers on site.

Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair solar PV systems and related equipment, including inverters, racking systems, batteries, and charge controllers.
- Complete electrical wiring, interconnections, commissioning, and testing of solar PV systems.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety requirements, and company standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and solar PV system issues.
- Work closely with Field Operations and other crew members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and solar installers on site.




- Safely operate tools and equipment required for solar and electrical installations.
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment and follow all applicable safety standards and building codes.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and complete required work-order and installation documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades while on site.

What We're Looking For

- Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification.
- Several years of relevant electrical field experience; residential experience is preferred.
- Direct, hands-on solar PV installation experience is strongly preferred; battery energy storage system (BESS) experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and jobsite safety practices.
- Familiarity with Nova Scotia Power electrical inspection requirements and applicable Solar Electrical Bulletin B-64-200 requirements is strongly preferred.
- Experience navigating Nova Scotia solar permitting, inspections, and utility interconnection requirements is an asset.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and solar PV system issues and work independently in the field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated, solutions-focused, and accountable.
- Valid driver's licence and clean driving record.
- Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions





- Outdoor field work in varying weather conditions and around the normal hazards associated with construction sites.
- Climbing and working at heights and, where required, in confined spaces.
- Safely handling tools, ladders, solar panels, inverters, panel boards, electrical equipment, roofing materials, and other construction materials.
- Performing repetitive physical tasks, including lifting, bending, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Travel to project sites and occasional out-of-town work may be required.

Additional Details

- Location: Halifax, NS and surrounding project sites.
- Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project requirements.
- Work Location: In person/field-based.
- Occasional travel and out-of-town work may be required.
