Objective:

Ensure all heat-treated products meet mechanical, metallurgical, safety, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and cost efficiency within our automotive part manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze metal samples using chemical, physical, mechanical, and microscopic testing methods to verify material composition, microstructure, strength, hardness, and overall product quality.
- Investigate metallurgical failures, including parts that crack, break, bend, distort, or fail to achieve specified surface and core hardness requirements, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and validate heat treatment recipes and process parameters to accommodate a broader range of products while maintaining quality and operational efficiency.
- Optimize heat treatment operations to minimize downtime associated with product changeovers, heat profile adjustments, and process interruptions.
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures in compliance with AIAG CQI-9/CQI-11 requirements, including daily microstructural evaluations, hardness testing, and process audits to ensure customer and industry standards are met.
- Provide metallurgical expertise to engineering, quality, and product development teams in selecting appropriate materials and heat treatment specifications for seat belt safety components.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving energy efficiency, minimizing process variation, and mitigating the impact of power interruptions or equipment disruptions.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to customer complaints, internal quality concerns, and heat treatment process deviations.
- Monitor furnace performance, atmosphere control systems, quench systems,



and process data to ensure consistent metallurgical results and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain metallurgical records, technical reports, work instructions, and heat treatment documentation to support quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Requirements:

- Post-secondary education in metallurgical engineering and/or relevant experience (5+ years), ideally in the areas of stamping, heat treat, in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Prior R&D; experience.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and understand the application of GD&T.;
- Effective verbal and written communication, negotiating skills, diplomacy and professionalism.
- Good planning and organizing skills, PMP certification a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).
- Team player and customer oriented.
- Good understanding of the APQP process.
- Good understanding of IATF requirements.
- The ability to produce summary reports/presentations and communicate status of assigned projects/tasks.
- A tenacious personality that will not let an issue be left unresolved.
- Strong leadership abilities, able to lead effective meetings.
- Conviction to improve personally and support continuous improvement in the department and company.
- High level of personal integrity and strong work ethics.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, professional demeanor under stressful situations.
- Self-starter, effective time management skills, able to work with little supervision.
- Confident, consistent, decisive personality.

Pay: $70,000.00-$83,000.00 per year
