Community Youth Worker

40 hours/week, Contract to June 2027

Langs was established as a community development project in 1978 by a group of citizens and service providers concerned about the lack of accessible services in the community. Langs has grown to become a dynamic, respected multi-service organization that uses a community development approach to provide comprehensive health, social and recreational services that are responsive to the changing needs of our community.

What We Are Looking For:

We are currently recruiting for Community Youth Worker to join our Community Services Team for a full time position. This role is responsible for supporting youth programming at the Langs Main Site Location Responsibilities including program planning, group facilitation, and evaluation and reporting responsibilities.

A successful candidate in this role would have

- Post-secondary education and training in recreation and leisure, social services, or a related field.
- Staff and volunteer supervision experience
- Highly developed program planning, group work, and facilitation skills
- Experience and understanding of community development.
- Experience working with high-risk youth would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of computers and various software applications
- HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development Training
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Valid drivers’ license, reliable vehicle with valid insurance is a requirement and willingness to obtain F-Class license

In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks:

· Support the Development, implement and evaluate programs in the Youth Service Area.

· Plan, implement, facilitate and directly supervise recreational programming for older youth.

· Plan,



implement and facilitate social skills/development programing n partnership with local schools or community agencies

· Establish and implement behavioural guidelines, safety standards and norms related to programming and the use of the facility.

· Conduct outreach to youth and parents of youth when appropriate.

· Liaise with related community agencies/partners for the purpose of implementing special projects/decentralized services.

· Supervise, orientate, train and support Peer Workers, Leaders in Training program volunteers and placement students as appropriate.

· Assist with the planning, implementation, and supervision of special events.

· Complete various administrative duties such as: program reports, individual logs, encountering incident reports, participant lists and community centre statistics.

· Salary of $$21.83-$24.40 Hourly

· 5 Sick/Personal Days per year

· Enrolment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
