The Green Roof Maintenance Technician is responsible for the ongoing care, inspection, and upkeep of extensive and intensive green roof systems across commercial, residential, and institutional properties. Working outdoors in a dynamic environment, this role ensures the long-term health, safety, and performance of living roof systems throughout the Ottawa region.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct scheduled inspections of green roof systems to assess plant health, drainage performance, and structural integrity
- Perform seasonal planting, weeding, pruning, and replanting of sedum, native grasses, wildflowers, and other green roof vegetation
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, including drip lines, moisture sensors, and drainage layers
- Remove invasive species, debris, and accumulated organic matter from roof surfaces and drainage points
- Apply approved fertilizers, soil amendments, and pest/disease treatments as needed
- Document site conditions,



maintenance activities, and plant health observations after each visit
- Identify and report structural, waterproofing, or drainage concerns to the project manager or building owner
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including working-at-heights requirements
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment including hand tools, blowers, and small power equipment
- Coordinate with property managers, building owners, and contractors as required

Pay: From $24.00 per year
