Experienced AV Technician

Contemporary Automation is a technology integration company specializing in high-end residential and commercial AV and automation systems. Our projects include whole-home automation, dedicated home theatres, connected boardrooms, video conferencing, distributed audio, networking, and control systems.

We are looking for an experienced AV Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, technically minded, and takes pride in producing clean, professional installations.

Compensation: $30–$35/hour, based on experience and qualifications

Responsibilities

- Install and terminate low-voltage AV, control, and networking cabling
- Perform cable dressing, labeling, and termination
- Build and wire AV racks with a strong focus on organization and clean cable management
- Perform low-voltage rough-ins for residential and commercial projects
- Install in-wall and in-ceiling speakers
- Install projectors, displays, TVs, and other AV equipment
- Install and configure networking equipment and AV components
- Install and integrate systems such as Sonos, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and other smart-home technologies
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of home automation and AV systems
- Work with lead technicians to troubleshoot and resolve installation issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Follow project plans, wiring diagrams, installation standards, and direction from lead technicians
- Work safely and professionally in both residential and commercial environments

QualificationsRequired

- Minimum 1 year of hands-on AV installation experience; 2+ years preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools
- Robust understanding of low-voltage cabling and installation practices
- Able to read and follow wiring diagrams, plans, and instructions




- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to work independently while also being an effective team player
- Comfortable taking direction from a lead technician

Preferred

- Experience building and wiring AV racks
- Experience with Crestron systems
- Experience with residential or commercial automation
- Experience with networking and structured cabling
- Experience with Sonos, distributed audio, video conferencing, or home theatre systems
- Industry certifications or formal AV training
