Position Summary

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing IHE's fleet of training equipment, ensuring machines remain safe, reliable, and available for student instruction.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting site operations.

Experience with several of the following is preferred:

- Excavators
- Dozers
- Graders
- Wheel Loaders
- Rubber Tire Backhoes
- Articulated Rock Trucks
- Skid Steers
- Water Trucks
- Pickups and support vehicles

Key Responsibilities

- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical,



and operational issues
- Conduct inspections and identify equipment concerns before failures occur
- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently
- Maintain maintenance records and repair documentation
- Communicate equipment status and repair needs to site leadership
- Coordinate parts requirements and inventory needs
- Ensure equipment meets all safety and operational standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Support a positive safety culture throughout the site

Qualifications Required

- Journeyman/Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification
- Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Experience working on a variety of heavy equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must provide own tools

Preferred Assets

- Class 3 driver's license
- Air Brake endorsement
- Welding experience
- HVAC experience
- Experience with fleet maintenance programs or maintenance scheduling systems
