Role Description The Associate Optometrist is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary, AB. In this role, the Associate Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage vision and ocular health conditions, and prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutions. The role involves educating patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care, while collaborating closely with optical staff to ensure accurate dispensing and high-quality customer service.
The Associate
Optometrist will maintain detailed patient records, adhere to regulatory and professional standards,
and support the continuous improvement of clinical processes and patient experience.
Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Optometrist in Alberta, with a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Clinical expertise in performing comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing and managing common ocular conditions, and prescribing vision correction solutions.
- Strong patient-centered communication skills, including the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to work collaboratively with optical staff and other team members to ensure accurate prescriptions, coordinated care, and a seamless patient experience.
- Commitment to ethical, inclusive, and non-discriminatory care, with attention to detail in record-keeping and compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Comfort with using practice management and electronic health record systems; willingness to adapt to new technologies and clinic workflows.
- Prior experience in a retail or clinic-based optometry setting is an asset; interest in fashion eyewear and customer service is beneficial.
- Availability to work full-time in office in Calgary, AB, including potential evening or weekend shifts as needed.
