Position Summary The Building Security role involves overseeing access control, ensuring the safe and secure flow of personnel and vehicles into the facility.
Responsibilities also include monitoring life safety systems, conducting surveillance and physical patrols, assisting guests, and maintaining detailed logs of daily events. The position requires managing deliveries, overseeing inventory of essential equipment, and ensuring proper credentialing of individuals to maintain secure access. The role demands effective communication and a proactive approach to security and safety.
This role pays an hourly rate of $20.60 - $21.60 CAD.

Responsibilities
- Access Control: Effectively manage and monitor the flow of personnel and vehicles entering and exiting the facility, ensuring adherence to security protocols.
- Life Safety Monitoring: Continuously oversee life safety systems (e.g., fire alarms, emergency systems) and take prompt action in response to any alerts or incidents.
- Surveillance & Patrol: Conduct regular video surveillance monitoring and physical patrols of the premises to ensure security and prevent unauthorized activity.
- Guest Assistance: Greet and assist visitors with information and directions, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of daily events, including occurrences, deliveries, visitor access, and other security-related activities.
- Delivery Management: Accept and inspect deliveries while interacting professionally with truck and bus drivers to coordinate their access to the facility.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the issuance and tracking of keys, radios, and other essential equipment to staff and authorized personnel.
- Credentialing: Issue, verify, and monitor credentials, passes, and wristbands to ensure only authorized individuals have access to designated areas.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License is required.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‐paced environment and handle stressful situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and extended hours, including but not limited to working 12 hours, early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to traditional business hours.
- Familiarity with Windows-based computers and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Possess excellent customer service skills and have experience working with the public.
- Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a team.
- Proven ability to work well with all levels of management.
- Must be able to work in an environment with loud noise.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to walk moderate distances and navigate stairs and ramps.
- Background and/or training in law and/or security is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
