About Guelph Soccer Club
Guelph Soccer Club is the largest youth sport organization in Guelph, Ontario, serving more than 5,000 participants annually. As a non-profit organization, we provide quality soccer programming for youth and adults while fostering lifelong participation, player development, and community engagement.
Position Summary The Coach Development Manager leads the Club's coach education, mentorship, and evaluation of programs. Working closely with the Technical Director, and Grassroots Manager, the position ensures coaches across the competitive program are supported, developed, and aligned with the Club's technical philosophy, player development model, and coaching standards.
This role is responsible for building a culture of coaching excellence, continuous learning, and positive player experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Coach Development
- Design and oversee the Club's coach development framework.
- Deliver coaching workshops, clinics, and educational resources.
- Develop and implement performance improvement plans when required.
- Observe, mentor, and support coaches in select training and game environments.
- Develop annual and individualized coach development plans.
- Promote best practices and ongoing professional development.
- Promote player-centered and development-focused coaching practices.
Coach Recruitment & Mentorship
- Support coach recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Identify and develop emerging coaching talent.
- Conduct orientation and development sessions for new coaches.
Evaluation & Quality Assurance
- Implement a consistent coach evaluation process.
- Conduct observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Monitor coaching standards and alignment with Club philosophy.
- Gather feedback from players, parents, and staff to support continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Club policies and governing body requirements.
- Certification Compliance: Maintain oversight of coach certifications and ensure all coaching staff meet the required certification standards for their assigned roles and responsibilities.
Administration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain records of certifications, evaluations, and development activities.
- Track coach development metrics and prepare reports.
- Manage coach development budgets and planning.
- Build positive relationships with coaches, players, parents, and governing bodies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Director.
Qualifications
Required
- Post-secondary education in Sport Management, Physical Education, Coaching, Kinesiology, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of youth soccer coaching experience
- Experience mentoring or leading coaches
- Robust understanding of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD)
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
Preferred
- Canada Soccer C Diploma or higher (or Ontario Soccer Grassroots Diploma)
- Experience delivering coach education programs
- Technical leadership experience within a youth soccer club
- Experience working with volunteer and paid coaches

Working Conditions
