Commercial Manager, Toronto

Avicanna is a diversified and vertically integrated Canadian biopharmaceutical company focused on the research, development and commercialization of plant-derived cannabinoid-based products for the global consumer, medical, and pharmaceutical market segments. We are seeking an innovative Commercial Manager in Toronto, with cannabis industry experience to support growing market share for our company's branded finished products with a focus on increasing sales – in both the adult-use retail and medical sectors.

The Commercial Manager will support and lead client relationships and product submissions, coordinate cross-departmentally on product launches and various initiatives, analyze data and create reports to identify areas of business growth.

On-site, Toronto, Ontario

Roles and Responsibilities

- Own and manage customer relationships with provincial boards and distributors to actively promote and grow the Avicanna portfolio of brands
- Manage submissions to regional product listings to provincial boards and category managers
- Co-lead relationships with Independent Aggregators & platforms – tracking data, managing carveouts and setting up monthly offers, etc.
- Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders on product information, forecasting, costing, and pricing, across various sales channels
- Source, collect, report and analyze (sales & distribution) data with the objective of developing strategic sales plans that address the market conditions
- Lead the tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) against quarterly goals, in collaboration with field sales team
- Coordinate closely with the Sales Manager to support Key Account establishment, load-in & sell-through, helping to drive sales and customer relationships
- Achieve sales and profitability targets for assigned regions and customers




- Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis
- Continuously promote Avicanna’s capabilities, portfolio advantages, and long-term commitments
- Integrate with Sales, Marketing & Operations teams on new product launches, retailer campaigns & programming to drive best results
- Contribute to presentations & decks for internal reporting, as required
- Co-coordinate inventory, ordering and shipping for samples, swag & POS materials
- Participate in marketing and sales events, as required
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements

- Post-Secondary education preferably in Business Administration, Commerce or similar related fields
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Commercial Management/Account Management/Sales within Cannabis industry
- Ability to build and maintain effective and accountable working relationships with decision makers, distributors, category managers and internal stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation
- Strong time management and organization skills with significant attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Takes initiative proactively and has a general “can-do” attitude
- Knowledge of cannabis industry and regulations strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and suite of services

- Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, in line with internal equity and market considerations.
