Role Description The Commercial Roofing Foreperson is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Toronto, ON. In this position, you will oversee day-to-day job site operations, lead and mentor field crews, and ensure commercial and industrial roofing projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct, and motivate on-site roofing crews to maintain high productivity and quality.
- Enforce strict health and safety compliance,
including fall protection and site safety standards.
- Read and interpret job specs, blueprints, and work orders to plan daily workflow and material requirements.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure proper installation, waterproofing, and insulation techniques.
- Communicate project progress, site challenges, and resource needs directly to Project Managers and Operations.
- Coordinate on-site equipment, material deliveries, and sub-trades as required.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient job site while keeping crew morale high.
- Qualifications
- Proven Leadership: Extensive experience supervising crews on commercial and industrial roofing projects.
- Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, Modified Bitumen, Built-Up Roofing, etc.), insulation techniques, and waterproofing.
- Safety First: Uncompromising commitment to safety standards; current Working at Heights and Supervisory Safety training required (or willingness to update certifications).
- Blueprint Literacy: Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve field challenges quickly and effectively.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively manage crew dynamics and client interactions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, work at heights, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Requirements: Valid G Driver’s License with a clean record and reliable transportation to the shop.
