We are seeking a Communications Team Lead, who will sit on the Board of Directors and oversee and direct the marketing efforts of our volunteers. Applicants must have a passion for nature and environmental advocacy and be willing to engage with the members and community by bringing together individuals, communities, organizations, and local policymakers to effect meaningful change.

While preference will be given to Mississauga residents, all qualified applicants are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in native plant gardening, marketing, digital strategy, communications, and/or fundraising.

BB directors must be willing and able not only to participate in monthly meetings but also to devote hands-on time and effort as managers and workers in operational activities. This role is a minimum 3-year term. Time commitment averages 2 hours per week, with heavier involvement required from January to June.

This role also requires attendance of the monthly 2-hour board meeting,

Responsibilities

- Provide leadership to achieve our mission and uphold our values
- Execute our strategic vision to deliver on organizational goals.
- Oversee, direct and manage social media activity, newsletters and ad-hoc communications and initiatives.
- Ensure high standards of governance and fiscal responsibility.
- Act as an ambassador for Blooming Boulevards within the community

Qualifications

- Knowledge of and passion for gardening
- Experience in a marketing leadership role
- Excellent navigation of social media platforms
- Solid teamwork aptitude
- Hands-on attitude and leadership skills
- Ability to commit at minimum 2 hours per week in addition to board meetings
