Position: Coordinator, Digital Community Reports To: Director, Marketing, Communication and Creative Last Updated: September 2026 Qualifications: Non-student position *See below for further qualifications Term: September 2026 - April 2027 Location: Home Campus will be Brampton. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Coordinator, Digital Community is responsible for enriching the student experience beyond academics by creating meaningful digital experiences that foster connection, community, and belonging. Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communication and Creative, the Coordinator will develop and execute digital content and campaigns that engage students across platforms, with a particular focus on long-form YouTube content and community building. The Coordinator will use audience insights and analytics to understand student interests, strengthen digital engagement, and identify creative opportunities to grow the SSU’s online community.
They will also create and curate content for SSU TVs across campus that keeps students informed, connected, and engaged in campus life. Through their work, the Coordinator will help bring the SSU’s Strategic Plan to life and create opportunities for students to build awareness, understanding, and connection to the SSU’s mission, vision, and role in the student experience.
The Coordinator, Digital Community will be responsible for working with and maintaining the brand identity and student voice of the SSU. The Coordinator, Digital Community will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU Staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff and Sheridan College students.
Coordinator, Coordinator, Digital Community Responsibilities:
- Assist the Marketing and Communications department in developing and executing promotional campaigns and engagements on the SSU digital channels
- Develop and coordinate long-form content that is valuable, meaningful, and supportive to Sheridan’s diverse student population.
- Build and nurture the SSU’s Digital community by creating content and engagement opportunities that encourage connection, conversation, and a sense of belonging.
- Use analytics and audience insights to evaluate content performance, understand student interests and behaviours, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Develop creative strategies to grow the SSU’s YouTube audience, including experimenting with content formats, series, storytelling approaches, and community engagement tactics.
- Monitor YouTube trends and emerging content opportunities to help the SSU stay relevant and create content that students genuinely want to watch and engage with.
- Collaborate with students, staff, and internal teams to identify stories, topics, and perspectives that reflect the diverse student experience.
- Develop and maintain content for SSU TVs across campus, creating timely, engaging, and community-focused content that helps students feel informed, connected, and a sense of belonging in shared campus spaces.
- Track and report on content performance, using insights and learnings to continuously improve content strategy and audience engagement.
- Create digital experiences that bring the SSU’s Strategic Plan to life and help students see themselves, their experiences, and their communities reflected in our work.
- Create opportunities for students to connect with and better understand the
SSU’s mission, vision, and role in creating a meaningful student experience.
- Creating engaging content regularly through the creative use of different mediums across multiple SSU social media platforms, to foster online community among Sheridan College students and organically increase the reach and profile of the SSU.
- Liaising with different departments within the SSU to facilitate the promotion of and community development focused on our events, services, clubs, governance and organizational initiatives.
- Develop and execute effective and creative channel strategies. Will be responsible for the development of storyline, asset creation, audience engagement tactics, etc. with team members and management.

- As directed by management, will be expected to attend certain SSU day and/or night events to engage students with social media content.
- Support with compiling YouTube Analytics and recommendations to improve student and community development online
- Act in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSUI and operates in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and policies of SSUI.

- Support a cohesive digital and physical community experience by ensuring YouTube and SSU TV content reflects the SSU’s voice, values, and role in student life.
- Track and report on content performance, using insights and learnings to continuously improve content strategy and audience engagement.
Qualifications:
- Strong video production and editing skills, with experience creating engaging long-form and short-form digital content.
- Experience filming, editing, and producing video content for digital platforms, particularly YouTube or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding and/or interest in YouTube content creation and digital content platforms, including audience engagement, content performance, and analytics.
- Creative and curious, with a passion for storytelling and finding new ways to connect with and engage students through digital media.
- Robust organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively, taking initiative while knowing when to seek input, support, or feedback from others.
- Reliable, accountable, and committed to following through on projects from ideation through to execution and publishing.
- Excellent communication skills, both online and in person, with the ability to collaborate with students, student leaders, staff, and creative teams.
- Comfortable working behind the scenes, including researching, brainstorming, planning, coordinating, filming, editing, and preparing content for publication.
- Comfortable appearing on SSU channels and collaborating with student leaders to create content, when needed.
- Approachable, friendly, creative, and dependable, with a genuine interest in building community through digital content.
- Passionate about the Sheridan student experience, knowledgeable about the SSU, and excited to create content that reflects and supports our diverse student community.
