Role Description The CWB Level-1/2/3 Inspector role is a contract, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. The inspector is responsible for performing welding inspections in accordance with CWB standards, project specifications, and applicable codes, including visual examinations, dimensional checks, and verification of materials and procedures. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing welding procedures and welder qualifications, monitoring fabrication and installation activities, witnessing critical welds and hold points, and documenting inspection results with accurate reports and, where appropriate, digital imagery.

The role involves coordinating with project managers,



construction teams, and clients to clarify requirements, resolve non-conformances, and ensure that structural steel, piping, and related components meet QA/QC expectations. The inspector will also contribute to final inspections, as-built documentation, and continuous improvement of inspection practices.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated proficiency in welding inspection, including visual inspection, dimensional checks, review of welding procedures, and verification of welder certifications in line with CWB Level-1/2/3 requirements.
- Experience with QA/QC in industrial environments, such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power, and structural fabrication, including inspection of process and power piping, structural steel, and plant in-service conditions.
- Strong skills in technical documentation and reporting, including preparation of inspection reports, review of Material Test Reports, as-built/red line drawings, and use of digital imagery to support findings.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications, and verify that installation and fabrication activities meet design, code, and project requirements.
- Knowledge of bolt torque and tensioning, material verification, paint and coating inspection, and general construction quality standards.
- Relevant CWB certification (Level-1/2/3) and, ideally, additional certifications such as CSA, API, or other industry-recognized inspection credentials.
- Previous in office inspection experience in heavy industrial or construction settings
