Junior Data Engineer, Data Platform

Gestion Zagora manages more than 8,000 residential units across Canada and the US. The Data Strategy & Innovation team is the engine behind technology and data transformation: we automate workflows, modernize infrastructure, and build the intelligence tools leadership uses every day. You report directly to the Head of Data Strategy & Innovation, work alongside our finance team, data and software engineers, and get trusted with real work from your first month.

What you'll actually do

Cost. Help with our GCP spend on the data side. Find the queries and tables burning slots and storage, quantify the waste, propose the fix, implement it. We want you bringing optimization ideas to us, not reacting to a billing alert.

Keep the warehouse clean. Refactor and consolidate tables, apply partitioning and clustering under guidance, and help retire what nobody uses.

Ship through CI/CD. Own and maintain deployments of apps and data pipelines and ensure the reports are never late because of a pipeline issue.

Support reporting and analysis. Help maintain KPI reporting across Finance, Asset Management, Operations, Accounting, and Leasing, and answer ad-hoc questions from senior leadership with real data.

Monitor and flag. Watch pipeline health and data quality, investigate what breaks, and surface query and storage costs that look wrong. You'll learn to read INFORMATION_SCHEMA and billing data. Decisions on access, permissions, and spend stay with the Head of DSI; your job is to spot problems and propose fixes,



and over time to take more of those calls yourself.

Help with the ERP migration. There is a lot of extraction, validation, and reconciliation work, and it's an excellent way to learn how a real estate business actually operates.

What we're looking for

- Solid Python. OOP and pandas. You don't need production experience, you need to be able to write clean code and explain it
- Real SQL comfort: joins, window functions, CTEs, and the instinct to check your row counts
- Some exposure to a cloud platform, GCP preferred. BigQuery familiarity is a plus, not a requirement
- A general understanding of REST APIs and how to read documentation you've never seen before
- GCP IAM and enough judgment to scope permissions tightly without becoming a bottleneck
- Bonus: Apps Script or Google Sheets automation, experience with dashboards, uv and ruff.

- Structured and independent. Small team, no micromanagement, work that visibly matters
- You want to be a senior data or analytics engineer in a few years and you're looking for the place that will get you there fastest

How you'll grow

We have a defined career ladder for this team, and this role is the first rung on the platform track. In your first year you'll learn our stack end to end. After that, the path is toward owning a domain of the platform: modelling, deployments, or governance, depending on where your strengths land. We hold recurring training sessions to help you level up.

Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000
