Team members work closely with adult students to help them identify goals, build skills, and navigate next steps in their educational and professional journeys.

Role Description The Educational Pathways Advisor is a full-time, on-site and remote role based in Chestermere, AB, responsible for guiding adult learners as they plan and pursue educational, training, and career pathways. On a day-to-day basis, the Advisor meets with learners to assess their interests, prior experience, and goals; develops individualized education and training plans; and connects them to appropriate programs, supports, and resources. The role includes providing clear information about admission requirements, credential options, funding opportunities, and local employment prospects, as well as helping learners navigate application processes and referrals.

The Advisor collaborates with internal staff and external partners to coordinate services, maintains accurate records of learner progress, and contributes to outreach activities that promote foundational learning opportunities in the community.

Qualifications

- Strong Educational Consulting and general Consulting skills to guide adult learners through academic, training, and career decisions.




- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to build trust, explain options clearly, and support learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Education systems, pathways, and credentialing processes, including adult and continuing education options.
- Experience working with adult learners or in community-based education, workforce development, or academic advising.
- Ability to assess learner needs, set realistic goals, and develop practical, step-by-step plans.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and confidentiality in handling learner information.
- Comfort working collaboratively with community agencies, training providers, and employers.
- Post-secondary education in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with local and regional training programs, funding supports, and employment resources in Alberta is an asset.

Compensation & Contract Structure

- Position Type: 6-Month Initial Contract (with a structured pathway to permanent employment)
- Hourly Rate: $45.00 CAD / hour
- Funding & Disbursement: Compensation during the contract period is tied directly to funds generated through active operational grants secured by the Foundational Learning Community and course enrollments via Hilgartner Training.




- Transition to Full-Time Salary & Benefits: At the 6-month mark, this position is slated to convert into a permanent, full-time salaried role with full benefits. Conversion is contingent upon the successful launch and profitability of our new educational portal connected with SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology).
- Rollover Opportunity: A candidate in good standing at the conclusion of the initial contract will receive direct rollover priority into the permanent salaried position.

- Operational Experience: Hands-on experience with student advising, credit mapping, or educational administration.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Understanding of adult learning principles and pathway frameworks.
- Career Vision: Long-term alignment and goals within higher education.

2. Orientation & Onboarding The successful candidate will enter a dedicated onboarding program. This phase includes strategic orientation sessions covering the Foundational Learning Community setup, Hilgartner Training workflows, and operational milestones for the SAIT portal launch.
