Position: Embedded Software Engineer – BSP & Bootloader

Duration: 6-12 Months (Possibility of extension)

Location: Kanata, ON (Onsite)

Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

About the Engagement

Akkodis is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer – BSP & Bootloader for a contract position with a client in Kanata, ON. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in BSP Linux/QNX development, bootloader design, embedded systems, secure boot technologies, and low-level hardware/software integration.

Services to be Provided

- Design and implement BSP and bootloader features as part of a larger software development team
- Design and implement secure boot solutions for embedded platforms
- Develop software design documentation and technical specifications
- Participate in architecture reviews and design discussions
- Assist with product verification, validation, troubleshooting, and testing activities
- Communicate technical issues proactively and provide effective solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software

Nice to Have (Desired Experience)

- Experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSM) and SHE-based security implementations
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms including RSA, DES, AES, and SHA-1
- Experience working with eMMC storage solutions
- Experience with NAND and NOR memory controllers
- Experience designing and implementing custom bootloaders
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git and SVN




- Robust experience in embedded automotive or real-time operating system environments

Expertise Required (Top 3 Required Skills)

1. Experiance with BSP Linux/QNX and bootloader development experience
2. Strong C and Assembly programming expertise with board bring-up experience
3. Embedded systems debugging using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers

Preferred Skills

1. Driver development experience with UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, and CAN-FD
2. Strong understanding of ARM A-Series and M-Series processors
3. Experience with secure boot, SHE specifications, and embedded security architectures
4. Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
5. Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
