As a Fixed Assets Accounting student, you will support the accurate accounting and management of fixed assets across the organization. Your goal will be to work with other team members to assist in the capitalization of assets as well as other projects the team is working on.

The Fixed Assets Accounting team is responsible for the accounting of fixed assets across our entire organization including both refineries, retail, fleet, terminals and Irving Energy operations. This includes managing projects in progress by collaborating with project managers to identify assets that have been built or purchased, assigning appropriate costs, and setting them up in the subledger. The team also ensures assets are depreciated at the correct rates in accordance with accounting standards.

The team sits within our Home Office under the Shared Services Accounting group in the Finance department.

Responsibilities:

- Support ongoing projects by identifying and implementing process improvements in fixed assets systems
- Learn and assist in the full cycle of fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and retirement of assets
- Perform reconciliations and prepare journal entries related to fixed assets
- Contribute to special projects and assist in improving the accuracy of fixed assets subledger

Your Skills

- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and fixed asset accounting




- Knowledge of Oracle General Ledger, Projects, and Fixed Assets would be considered an asset

Your Experience:

- Currently enrolled in a Business Administration program completing 2nd or 3rd year of study with a robust interest in accounting or finance
- Must have completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education and be returning to school
