Role Description The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Milestone – Menopause Centre of Southern Alberta is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. The LPN will provide direct patient care, including assessments, vital signs, medication administration within scope of practice, and support with procedures related to menopause and women’s health. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing patients for visits, documenting clinical information accurately, updating medical records, and coordinating follow-up care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
The role involves patient education on treatment options, lifestyle recommendations, and symptom management, ensuring all care is guided by evidence and patient consent. The LPN will also support clinic operations through appointment flow management, infection control practices,
and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive environment for all patients.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) registration in good standing with the appropriate provincial regulatory body (e.g., CLPNA) and eligibility to practice in Alberta.
- Clinical skills in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, medication administration within LPN scope, and assisting with procedures in an outpatient or primary care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide clear health education, obtain informed consent, and build trust with patients experiencing menopause and related health concerns.
- Proficiency in accurate clinical documentation, electronic medical record (EMR) use, and basic computer skills to support clinic workflows and coordination of care.
- Knowledge or solid interest in menopause care, women’s health, and evidence-based practice, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, demonstrate sound clinical judgment, and maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Experience in a primary care, women’s health, or specialty clinic environment is an asset; previous patient education or counseling experience is beneficial.
- CPR/BLS certification and adherence to infection prevention and control standards in an ambulatory care setting.
