The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) has one of the most recognized and loved brands in Edmonton, and we are ready to take it further. We are looking for a strategic marketing leader to strengthen our brand, elevate our marketing, and build on our creative strengths to meet the opportunities ahead.

Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Fund Development, the Manager, Marketing & Brand leads a talented team of marketing consultants and design and production specialists. Working closely with communications and digital professionals, this role ensures marketing and communications are aligned, complement one another, and consistently put our customers first.

In this role, you will advance EPL's brand strategy, raise the bar on marketing campaigns, lead a responsive service delivery model, and evolve how creative work is planned, prioritized, and produced, including how emerging tools, technology, and external partners can create capacity for bigger, bolder ideas.

Together, we will shape how EPL shows up in the community, from the campaigns that promote our programs, services, and events to the brand experience across every branch and communication channel. Key responsibilities include

Team Leadership & Marketing Operations

- Lead a team of marketing and creative professionals, setting direction and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Oversee the operational delivery of marketing services across the portfolio, overseeing intake and triage, determining priorities and level of support, assigning resources, coordinating workflows, and tracking progress to ensure timely delivery and effective use of Marketing capacity.
- Establish meaningful measures of marketing effectiveness and brand health, using data and customer insights to guide decisions, demonstrate impact, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Brand Leadership

- Own and evolve EPL’s brand strategy, elevating the brand from tactical application to a strategic asset that shapes decisions across the organization.
- Strengthen the brand's relevance and distinctiveness, building on more than a decade of brand equity and community trust. Align campaigns, content, and channels to deliver a cohesive, brand-aligned external presence.

Marketing Strategy & Campaigns

- Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that elevate EPL’s programs, services, events and impact.
- Lead complex, high profile, multi-channel marketing campaigns tied to EPL’s strategic priorities, aligning teams across Marketing and throughout the organization to deliver cohesive, high-impact outcomes.

Creative Services & Production

- Provide creative direction to EPL's design and production team, championing quality,

consistency, and creative excellence.

- Evolve EPL’s creative operating model by establishing the right mix of in-house expertise, external freelancers, and self-serve resources, and identifying the best ways to leverage emerging tools to expand capacity on the team and across the organization.

- Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, with a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, brand, or creative services leadership, including people management. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Experience in public-sector and unionized environments is an asset.

- A current membership in the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA), Advertising Club of Edmonton (ACE) or International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is an asset.
- A track record of developing creative, audience-focused marketing campaigns that break through and deliver measurable results.
- Thorough knowledge of marketing and brand management principles and best practices, including inclusive marketing and accessible design, with proven experience stewarding and growing an established brand.
- Demonstrated experience leading change, building alignment, and supporting teams and stakeholders through evolving priorities, processes, and ways of working.
- Experience managing marketing operations, including intake, prioritization, workflows, budgets,

and resourcing decisions, as well as engaging external agencies, vendors, and freelancers, including through procurement and RFP processes.

Note: Satisfactory background screening is required for this position, which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.

Who you are

- An exceptional leader, team-builder, and coach who fosters a collaborative, high-performing environment for creative and marketing professionals.
- A strong relationship-builder with excellent interpersonal and consultation skills and a proven ability to build trust across teams, departments, and stakeholder groups, navigate competing priorities, and build shared understanding.
- An exceptional project manager and organizer with strong judgment and the ability to assess and triage competing priorities, define scope, manage complexity, and keep multiple campaigns and initiatives moving forward.
- A strategic thinker who can connect long-term brand opportunities with the day-to-day realities of delivering marketing services, using data and insight to make informed decisions and turn strategy into action.
- A hands-on leader with genuine design and production fluency, able to speak the team's language and equally comfortable setting direction at a high level or stepping in to lead or support execution.
- A self-starter with natural curiosity who is comfortable challenging the status quo, looks for opportunities to improve how work gets done, and takes initiative to propose solutions and follow through.
- Someone with a genuine interest in emerging tools and technologies, including AI, and a curiosity about how they can enhance and expand what marketing and creative teams can do.
- An outstanding communicator, both written and verbal, with a talent for presenting creative and strategic ideas in explicit, engaging language to diverse audiences

Who we are: The secret ingredient for making EPL a magical place is no secret at all; in fact, it's very simple: We share. We share stories, ideas, and experiences. We share with our customers, our communities, and ourselves. We are Edmonton's largest lender of all manner of information and entertainment. Pay Band:$112,782 - $140,974 per annum
