OUR STORY

Robert Allan Ltd. is Canada’s oldest privately owned consulting Naval Architectural firm, where engineering meets the open sea and is proudly established in Vancouver, BC.

For nearly a century, we've been designing vessels of almost every kind – from small fishing boats to ocean-going ferries. We're best known for our expertise in tug and barge transportation, ship assist, and escort tugs, quick patrol craft, fireboats, and shallow-draft vessels.

We provide professional marine consulting and design services to clients all over the world, turning bold ideas into a seaworthy reality. If you love tackling engineering challenges and want your work to make waves (literally!), come aboard and help shape the future of vessel design!

As a Naval Architect, you’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to solve real-world engineering challenges, develop thoughtful and efficient designs, and see your work progress from early concepts through to final design. This is an opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects, including ship-handling tugs, commercial workboats, barges, and other steel and aluminum vessels for local and international clients. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals in a high-performance team while continuing to build your technical expertise.

· Support the development and refinement of naval architecture-related drawing templates, and guidelines.

· Participate in various technical groups within the company.

WHAT YOU BRING

· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.

· Knowledge or experience in vessel arrangement, stability analysis, hull form design, weight estimation,

· Familiarity with marine classification society rules and first-principles engineering calculations.

· Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and apply sound judgement to solve complex technical problems.

· Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.

· Experience or interest in 3D modeling using Rhino, CADMATIC, or similar marine design software.

· Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia is considered an asset.

HOW YOU WORK
