Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Provide operational research support on the K-HANDLE CKD study under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr.

Caroline

Richard (Department of Agricultural, Food, and Nutritional Science). This study is a Feeding Clinical Trial which involves coordinating the study logistics, preparation or revision of study documents, ethics approvals/amendments or renewals, implementation (recruitment), and supervision/coordination of study staff providing support in the different tasks of the study.

Responsibilities

- Operational ongoing activities (Follow SOPs, operational workflows, study timelines, recruitment plans, and visit schedules etc.).
- Regulatory & Ethics Compliance (Prepare and submit Research Ethics Board (REB) applications such as amendments or renewals etc.).
- Participant recruitment activities and study implementation / coordination (liaison and communication with participants, AHS, doctor, connect care etc.).
- Staff Supervision and Training (Delegate tasks and monitor staff workload especially related to the metabolic kitchen and meal preparation depending on ongoing participants) 5-Budget and finances (Keep track of study expenses with receipts (grocery payment receipts, lab payments etc.).

- General tasks (Communication with lab members to schedule participant’s visits; volunteers, HNRU coordinators for training etc.).

Qualifications

- 4 year diploma in health sciences required, BSc in Nutrition and Metabolism preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
- Clinical Research Coordinator Certificates (CITI program or equivalent).
- Must have understanding of, and experience with, applied research methods and practices.
- Minimum 4 years experience in a clinical research setting in multiple types of research studies or the equivalent demonstrated combined coordination/administrative experience in health related.
- Phlebotomy and venipuncture is an asset.
- Minimum 2-3 years, experience with biological samples.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills, and high attention to detail,



especially pertaining to efficient and accurate data entry and documentation.
- Proficient in using information systems including Microsoft Office Suite Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite applications (Drive, Calendar, Forms, Meet, Sites), and tools for creating visual content (i.e. Canva).
- Knowledge of Granting Agency Guidelines, People Soft Financials, and University Policy and Procedures is a significant asset.
- Expertise in Human Nutrition.
