Senior Business & Change Management Analyst
Location: Alberta, Canada – Primarily Onsite
Contract: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite with occasional remote work
Residency Requirement: Must reside in Alberta for the duration of the contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Business & Change Management Analyst to support strategic business analysis, organizational change management, process improvement, business intelligence, and application support initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, leadership, and technical resources to identify business needs, improve processes, develop solutions, and successfully implement organizational and technology changes.
The role is expected to be approximately 60% Business Analysis and 40% Change Management, although the allocation may vary based on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Project Delivery
- Lead and support projects from initiation through implementation and post-deployment stabilization.
- Conduct discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and business needs assessments.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements.
- Develop business cases, process maps, user stories, use cases, and project documentation.
- Analyze current-state processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and service quality.
- Support the development, enhancement, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications and systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams, project teams, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), business readiness assessments, and implementation activities.
- Identify project risks and issues and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Assist with project planning, governance, status reporting, and delivery activities.
Organizational Change Management
- Develop and execute change management strategies and plans to support successful adoption of current processes, systems, and initiatives.
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and change impact assessments.
- Assess organizational readiness, risks, and adoption requirements.
- Develop communication, engagement, resistance management, coaching, and training plans.
- Partner with business leaders and project teams to build awareness, commitment, and support for change.
- Support leaders in managing resistance and reinforcing desired behaviors.
- Monitor adoption, utilization, and proficiency of implemented solutions.
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, training sessions, and change-related discussions.
- Develop sponsor engagement roadmaps and stakeholder communication strategies.
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support operational initiatives aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
- Analyze business performance measures and identify opportunities for process and service improvement.
- Provide recommendations to leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to business and operational planning activities.
- Develop and present options, recommendations, and implementation approaches to senior leadership and decision makers.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Change Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in business analysis, organizational change management, project delivery, process improvement, or related areas.
- Certified Business Analyst (IIBA) or equivalent certification.
- Certified Change Management Professional, such as:
- Prosci Certified Change Practitioner
- ACMP
- CMI
- APMG Change Management Practitioner
- Equivalent certification
Mandatory Experience Candidates must demonstrate approximately 5 years of experience in the following areas:
- Developing integrated plans for complex initiatives.
- Assisting clients in executing strategies involving technology, processes, and organizational change.
- Working in project management roles.
- Developing project documentation for a wide variety of initiatives.
- Supporting and collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working with Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, or other software development methodologies.
- Working with cross-functional teams to understand detailed requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Working with senior leadership to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and implementation strategies.
- Project governance and oversight.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
- Active PMP certification or equivalent.
- Active Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
- Experience working as a Change Manager on large, complex custom software implementations.
- Experience with data integration between clinical applications.
- Experience analyzing, developing, and integrating complex IT systems.
- Experience understanding complex business questions and translating them into practical technology or process solutions.
- Experience with business process mapping, engineering, re-engineering, and continuous improvement.
- Value Stream Mapping experience.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and training development.
- Experience with business application development, enhancement, and support.
- Experience with UAT, business readiness assessments, and implementation planning.
- Experience developing and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience in public sector or highly regulated environments.
- Experience with business intelligence, reporting, and performance measurement.
- Knowledge of Prosci ADKAR, ACMP, Kotter, or equivalent change management methodologies.
