Senior Software Architect / Engineer. As a Senior Software Architect / Engineer, you will lead the design and development of mission-critical software systems for next-generation electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In this role, you’ll architect scalable, safety-assured embedded and application-level software that underpins flight control, avionics, energy management, and other core systems.

You’ll play a key part in defining the software strategy, driving system integration, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and certification requirements.

Define software architecture for complex, distributed systems supporting real-time flight-critical functions

Lead development of embedded software for avionics, flight control, propulsion, and system monitoring

Drive full software lifecycle: requirements capture, architecture design, implementation, integration, verification, and certification

Define and lead a model-based approach to software development activities

Be an integral part of the team,

Challenge the status quo, bring new ideas to improve engineering quality, productivity and timeliness of delivery

Enforce standards, ensure rigor, resilience and continuous improvement in design solutions, meeting all regulatory requirements, conforming to specifications, quality and requirements within schedule and budget

Act as a project integrator and interface between project management and other engineering teams

Stay up to date with, and implement the latest developments in your field

Drive the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency

Demonstrated experience (7+ years) in a Software Engineering role from aerospace or automotive, having worked across all phases of the lifecycle. The team is currently full of multi-skilled individuals who are some of the first Engineers to have joined Horizon.
