We are seeking an experienced Underwriter (3–5 years' experience) or Senior Underwriter (7+ years' experience) to join our Sports, Entertainment & Contingency underwriting team at HDI Global SE Canada Branch.

The Senior Underwriter or Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and managing a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business within the Sports, Entertainment & Contingency segment. This role involves evaluating risks, negotiating terms and conditions, developing strong broker relationships, supporting business growth, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve underwriting objectives while strengthening HDI Global Specialty's presence in the Canadian market.

The successful candidate will be appointed at either the Underwriter or Senior Underwriter level based on their experience, qualifications, and demonstrated underwriting expertise.

Your Profile (Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

- Undergraduate university degree required; professional insurance designations such as CIP and/or CRM are considered assets.
- Minimum 3–5 years of insurance underwriting experience for the Underwriter role or 7+ years for the Senior Underwriter role, preferably within specialty, entertainment, sports, event, or contingency insurance.
- French fluency is considered an asset.
- Experience drafting and interpreting policy wordings, endorsements, and insurance contract language.
- Robust analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess risk exposures and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong broker relationships.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills,



with a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong interest in sports, entertainment, live events, and the specialty insurance market.
