As Software
Engineer, Backend, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and operating reliable backend services that support Binance.You will partner with engineers, product managers, infrastructure, security, compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. You will operate as a fully proficient individual contributor, independently owning projects and solving complex technical problems while contributing to the continued reliability and evolution of our platform. Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs using Java and related technologies.
Own backend features and projects throughout the software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. Design scalable, reliable, and performant services for high-throughput applications, applying sound principles for distributed systems, data integrity, security, and fault tolerance. Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and other Engineering teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, microservices, databases, messaging systems, and other backend components supporting Binance.Participate in technical design and code reviews, contributing to engineering standards and identifying opportunities to improve system architecture, code quality, and maintainability. Build appropriate automated testing, monitoring, logging, and observability into services to support reliable production operations. Investigate production issues, participate in incident response and root-cause analysis,
and implement solutions that improve system reliability and prevent recurrence.
Identify performance bottlenecks and technical debt and implement pragmatic improvements that increase scalability, resiliency, developer productivity, and operational efficiency. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or approximately 3+ years with an advanced degree.
Bilingual in English and Mandarin Robust professional experience developing production backend applications using Java and common Java frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot.
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and a strong understanding of data modeling, transactions, and application-level data integrity. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable platforms. Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, concurrency, testing, and common design patterns.
Experience building observability into production services and troubleshooting distributed applications using logs, metrics, monitoring, and tracing. Ability to independently manage moderately complex technical projects, make sound engineering tradeoffs, and communicate technical concepts effectively with engineering and cross-functional partners. The starting pay range for this role is between CAD $148,300 - $171,000 for all Canada remote locations.
