FIL Delivery

Mississauga

Fil Delivery is a rapidly growing, best-in-class, beverage supply chain company. We specialize in warehousing, picking, and packing, and delivery of premium craft beer, wine, and spirits in Southern Ontario. Fostering an engaged and safe workplace, our employees are motivated to provide outstanding customer service. Through innovative technology, we are continuously improving the delivery experience for our clients and their customers.

RoleEvery shift, our drivers, dispatchers, warehouse team, and clients rely on software you'll help build. This isn't a role where you write code in isolation and hope it works — you'll spend real time with the people using what you ship, because the best requirements come from actually understanding the problem, not from a spec passed down the chain. You'll work across the back end, the integration layer, and the user-facing product, and see your work go from idea to production.

Where and How You'll Work

- 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
- A shared, rotating on-call schedule across the engineering team — everyone takes a turn, no one carries it alone.

Benefits

- Competitive salary
- Hybrid work — 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
- Dental, vision, and extended health care
- RRSP/DPSP match
- Business-casual dress code — comfortable, not stiff
- On-site parking
- Real opportunities to grow as an engineer

Requirements

- 2+ years building and shipping web software professionally
- Working proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
- Daily use of AI coding tools, with a clear view of where their output needs checking
- Readiness to work directly with the people who use what you build, and to own a feature after it ships
- Genuine interest in logistics and supply chain

Considered an asset:

- Experience with Azure and DevOps practices — CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring
- QA experience on web applications, especially with Playwright
- Python experience, useful for our Databricks and analytics work

Our Stack: candidates are not expected to have prior experience across the entire stack; familiarity with a portion of it is sufficient.

- TypeScript and Node.js on Azure Functions, with Service Bus for messaging
- Next.js and React for our web application
- Postgres as our system of record; Databricks and Python for analytics
- Azure infrastructure declared in Bicep, deployed through GitHub Actions
- Integrations with Acumatica, Solochain, FarEye, Samsara, and EDI tooling

Key Responsibilities

- Build and ship features across the back end, the web application and the integration layer between them, from the first conversation with a user to running code in production.
- Integrate the platforms the business runs on, and own the correctness of what crosses those boundaries.
- Diagnose and fix the failures integrations produce: dropped callbacks, non-idempotent retries, dead-lettered messages, calls that report success while nothing happened. A good part of this job is making silent failures loud.
- Scope work before building it. Read the vendor specification, ask the vendor what it does not answer,

write the plan, then implement it.
- Write automated tests, including end-to-end tests of the flows clients and staff depend on.
- Use AI coding tools daily, and stay accountable for what they produce.
- Deploy and operate what you build.
- Take on unplanned requests from the business without letting planned work stall.
- Take a turn in the on-call rotation, covering urgent production issues outside business hours.

You'll Thrive Here If You

- Own what you ship, from the first commit to running code in production
- Work independently in a fast-paced setting, learn unfamiliar systems quickly, and ask when stuck
- Communicate clearly with people who are not engineers, since most requirements arrive from dispatch, the warehouse or the office rather than from a written specification
- Judge AI output on evidence rather than on plausibility
- Ship small increments and put them in front of users early
- Have a high level of integrity and confidentiality

FIL Delivery Inc. is committed to providing equal workplace opportunities and an inclusive environment for all candidates and current employees. . We support barrier-free and accessible employment practices.
