The Position
Plan International Canada is seeking a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented communications and events professional to support employee engagement through internal communications and staff events. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications & Events, this contract role will help deliver compelling communications, engaging employee experiences, and seamless event execution across the organization. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both content creation and event coordination and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
What success looks like?
Internal Communications (40%) Support the planning, development, and delivery of internal communications that inform, engage, and connect employees to Plan International Canada's mission, strategy, and culture.
Responsibilities include
- Drafting, editing, and publishing content for the SharePoint intranet, including news articles, updates, features, and employee stories.
- Curating, producing, and publishing the organization's weekly employee newsletter.
- Supporting content development and coordination for quarterly staff Town Halls, including, pre and post-event communications.
- Assisting with internal communication campaigns related to organizational initiatives, employee engagement and events.
- Maintaining content accuracy and consistency across internal communication channels.
- Supporting communications measurement and reporting as required.
- Providing general internal communications support and administrative assistance as needed e.g. updating and maintaining project trackers.
Events & Employee Experience (60%) Provide end-to-end support for the planning and execution of organization-wide employee events and engagement activities.
Responsibilities include
- Supporting the creative and logistical planning of all-staff events, including:
- Quarterly Town Halls
- Annual Winter Social Event
- Two-day Staff Summit
- Other employee engagement activities as required
- Coordinating event timelines, project plans, and key deliverables.
- Liaising with vendors, venues, and external partners to track deliverables, timelines,
and requirements.
- Supporting attendee registration processes and event communications.
- Publishing and maintaining event-related content on a SharePoint intranet hub.
- Assisting with signage, décor, event materials, and attendee experience elements.
- Drafting attendee communications, reminders, FAQs, and event updates.
- Supporting the development of branding assets and promotional materials for events.
- Providing on-site event support, including:
- Guest registration and welcome
- Wayfinding and attendee support
- Backstage coordination
- Breakout room support
- Troubleshooting operational issues
- Supporting the external event planner and event production team
- Participating in post-event evaluation, communications and recommendations for continuous improvement.

You are a proactive self-starter with strong communication, project coordination, and organizational skills. You can balance multiple priorities, work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting internal communications, employee engagement, corporate events, or related activities.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting conferences, large employee events, or corporate meetings is considered an asset.

Plan International Canada is a hybrid workplace. You will work from the office and from home.
The compensation for this position is anticipated to be $ 40,000. We comprehensively evaluate a variety of factors to determine fair compensation, including experience, specific job-related skills, and relevant educational or professional training.
