About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join McKesson's Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) DI Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This pivotal role involves designing and implementing advanced data product architecture and engineering solutions, providing analytical insights, and collaborating across teams to solve complex business problems.
The Senior Data
Engineer will work closely with data scientists, analysts, BI developers, data architects, and delivery leaders to develop data solutions, products, insights, and models that enable stakeholders to make informed decisions. This role plays a crucial part in modernizing our supply chain organization by facilitating rapid AI/ML experimentation, operationalizing successful use cases, and monetizing insights to drive strategic growth.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of seven years of extensive experience in data engineering—building data solutions and products—is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of proven experience in data architecture, enabling the creation of enterprise-wide data solutions.
Hands-on expertise with cloud data warehousing technologies such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake is essential.
Certifications in these platforms or related data management tools will be considered a robust advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy cloud-native data applications and pipelines utilizing Azure and Databricks to support advanced analytics and digital capabilities across pharmaceutical business domains.
- Manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products, ensuring adherence to metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design principles.
- Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to align data product designs with enterprise standards and governance frameworks, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, scalability, and performance, providing technical leadership and mentorship to global engineering teams.
- Develop standardized dimensional models (Facts, Dims), ontologies, and semantic structures to promote interoperability and consistency across data domains.
- Apply AI-enabled SDLC practices and automation to improve system performance, reduce technical debt, and accelerate time-to-market for data products.
- Drive seamless data integration across different platforms, champion modernization efforts through Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
